20 Bookish Questions Book Tag

I saw this post on Lisa Loves Literature's blog, a new blog I've been following recently! It looked like fun! Here are my answers:

1.  HOW MANY BOOKS ARE TOO MANY FOR A SERIES?

I think it really depends on the series. 3-4 seems appropriate, but if there is still more to explore, longer is fine. Also: anyone have any good series recommendations? It's been awhile since I've gotten sucked into a good series!

2.  HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS?

If this question means cliffhangers in a series...then I love them if it's a series that's been out for awhile and I can quickly read the next book! Ha! But seriously, I don't mind them.  It makes reading more exciting for sure.

3.  HARDCOVER OR PAPERBACK?

While I love books in any form, I do prefer paperback. Hardcovers are great, but they're also heavy! I carry a book with me everywhere. Literally everywhere. There's always one in my purse. Paperback are much more purse friendly.  I carry my kindle on me too at all times, but also a paperback. What if the kindle runs out of battery? :)

4.  FAVORITE BOOK?

Sheesh, asking a book lover to pick their favorite book is a tall order. If I had to pick ONE, I'd say Moloka'i by Alan Brennert. It's one I recommend to EVERYONE. The Last Time I Was Me is also one of my favorites.

5.  LEAST FAVORITE BOOK?

Also a tough question. I'm not going to hate on books, because, books. How about book I wasn't a fan of that everyone loved? For me that would be The Glass Castle.

6.  LOVE TRIANGLES, YES OR NO?

Sure, why not?

7.  THE MOST RECENT BOOK YOU COULDN'T FINISH?

Fair Play by Eve Rodsky. I started it because I'm reading all the Reese Witherspoon book club picks, but this one just wasn't for me.  I definitely wasn't her target audience.

8.  A BOOK YOU'RE CURRENTLY READING?

I'm currently reading The Glittering Hour by Iona Grey. Review on the blog December 12!

9.  LAST BOOK YOU RECOMMENDED TO SOMEONE?

One of my friends reached out to ask for book club recommendations. My recommendations were Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center, A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum, Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver, and The Island of Sea Woman by Lisa See. I also recommended This Tender Land to this person as well, before the book club recommendation question.

10.  OLDEST BOOK YOU'VE READ BY PUBLICATION DATE?

Probably a Shakespeare play?

11.  NEWEST BOOK YOU'VE READ BY PUBLICATION DATE?

Regretting You by Colleen Hoover. It comes out December 10th! A great read!

12.  FAVORITE AUTHOR?

This is as hard as picking a favorite book! Some favorites: Cathy Lamb, Kerry Lonsdale, Kristan Higgins,  Colleen Hoover, Emily Giffin, Elin Hilderbrand, Jane Green, Jamie Brenner, Katherine Center, Allie Larkin, Barbara O'Neal...

13.  BUYING BOOKS OR BORROWING BOOKS?

Both!! I love supporting my favorite authors and buying books.  But I also love supporting my local library and borrowing books from there, or sharing my books with friends.

14.  A BOOK YOU DISLIKE THAT EVERYONE SEEMS TO LOVE?

I mentioned The Glass Castle in the "least favorite" question. That's definitely my best example of this one. I felt Educated by Tara Westover had a similar theme but was so much better, in my opinion.

15.  BOOKMARKS OR DOG EARS?

Book marks.

16.  A BOOK YOU CAN ALWAYS RE-READ?

I rarely re-read, but when I do....The Devil Wears Prada!  I always love it. That's all.

17.  CAN YOU READ WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC?

Absolutely. I love a nice, low key Spotify playlist when I'm reading.

18.  ONE POV OR MULTIPLE?

Typically I prefer one point of view, but I have enjoyed quite a few books lately that have had multiple POVs. Usually the problem is there is one character I'm not as excited about so I want to skip over their chapter, but that hasn't really happened lately.

19.  DO YOU READ A BOOK IN ONE SITTING OR OVER MULTIPLE DAYS?

One sitting? I wish! That would be dreamy! But no, I work full time. So multiple days for sure.

20.  WHO DO YOU TAG?

Anyone who wants to!  Comment on my post with your link so I can see your answers! :)

  1. I wish I could read while listening to music. It's too distracting for me. I always have my Kindle on me, too, and a physical book!!

  2. Fun answers! It's so hard to pick books you don't like because if you're like me, I now quit reading if I'm not enjoying, I don't have time to read what I'm not enjoying.

  3. I think we're total reading opposites on most of these lol I can have music or tv on in the background though.

I can read a book in one sitting. if I like it (& don't get interrupted repeatedly by the fur kids - it takes me about 4-6 hours to read a 300-ish page book.
