I'm listening to The Starless Sea on audio and Morgenstern's writing is so eloquent and beautiful.  Slowly making my way through this one.

I'm currently reading American Dirt--yes, I'm aware of the controversy.  I've read many books on this topic, including #ownvoices books recommended by others. I'm  reading and reviewing this book as fiction. I'm halfway through it and it is very well written.

  1. I read American Dirt and really enjoyed it. I understand the controversy, but I also feel like we have a right to read what we want and enjoy it without judgement. I still think it's worth reading! I hope to read A Starless Sea soon. And I have a copy of Pachinko that I need to read!!

    1. Yes!! I totally agree with you re: American Dirt. A Starless Sea is so eloquent. I don't normally read that genre, so I'm kinda like.....what is going on? But it's so beautifully written I don't care!

  2. I love Shalvis and I started getting back to reading more of her books last year after taking a break (unintentionally) for a few years.

  3. I recently won Almost Just Friends on a blog giveaway, so I'm excited to read that one. I don't know about the controversy around American Dirt.
