Greetings from Oregon--if you can, please send us some positive vibes. A large part of our state is consumed by wildfires. Many communities and counties have been evacuated and some communities in the Santiam Canyon east of Salem, OR are a total loss. I grew up camping and traveling through there and I'm heartbroken. The community where I live is about a 45+ minute drive, so we are safe, but the smoke and ash is super intense right now.
I LOVED The Death ofVivek Oji. It was a beautiful, heartbreaking story. I highly recommend it. I also read Midnight Sun--as a Twilight fan I knew I had to read it. It was a 3 star for me--it was definitely way too long (600+ pages) but Edward's perspective was interesting to read. I also read The Outsiders--a YA classic that a friend told me "we can't be friends if you haven't read this". So I read it! I liked it as well.
Of course I'm in the middle of two huge books right now! I'm listening to 11/22/63 on audio right now and it's excellent so far. I've never read anything by King before and I'm so impressed! I'm also about 75% of the way through the Hamilton biography on my kindle and it's fantastic as well.
I just picked Her Last Flight up from the library and I'm excited to start it! Also finally reading Beartown--my bestie Breanne let me borrow her copy!
How are you doing this week? What are you reading?
