Image
This post is also in partneship with Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl . Well, we've made it to the end of 2020 (THANK GOODNESS). In this terrible year, there was one bright spot: SO MANY fantastic books. Narrowing down to my top ten was HARD, friends. While most came out in 2020, this list is books I READ in 2020. I also couldn't narrow it down to just ten...so here are all my favorites!               I'd also like to document two other books I loved this year that were a a huge reading accomplishment for me. Both of these were five star reads as well as 800+ pages.  These were both phenomenal books! What were your top reads of 2020? I hope you had as good a reading year as I did!!

Review: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

Image
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue By V.E. Schwab 442 pages, published October 6, 2020 Tor Books Source: Book of the Month (purchased for myself) About the Book: France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets. Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world. But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.    Wow! I absolutely LOVED this beautiful book! It wasn't on my radar at all until I saw that it was a BOTM selection. Fantasy isn't my typical genre but the historical fiction and French elements were what motivated me to select it...and I am SO glad I did. This was absolutely a book I could not put do

Tell Me Something Tuesday: Goodreads Shelves

Image
Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. You can find out more and sign up to receive emails about future TMST post topics on Jen's blog, That's What I'm Talking About . While you're there, follow her blog, because it's awesome!  Today's topic: How do you organize your Goodreads Shelves? Ah, Goodreads.  It's such a great website, even if it does have some flaws. Two flaws that really bother me are 1) not being able to give half stars and 2) No DNF shelf. I use the three main ones--Want to Read, Read, and Currently Reading. I definitely with they had a DNF shelf.  I created a DNF shelf, but I only shelve books there if I made it a significant amount in the book (usually, 30%) because you still have to make it as read to shelf it on your custom, DNF shelf. It wouldn't make

WWW Wednesday: December 4

Image
WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam over at Taking On A World of Words .   The three W's are:  What did you just finish reading? What are you currently reading?  What do you think you'll read next?    Recently Finished   Unfortunately, I didn't love Mina Lee. I thought it had potential, and I liked Mina's perspective more than Margot's. It started out well, then I got bored int the middle and it didn't improve from there. I did love True to Me--it's set in Maui and it was just the escape I needed! I listened on audio and loved it. Currently Reading     No Place Too Far is the follow up to True to Me, so I absolutely wanted to dive right in. I'm also enjoying some non fiction--The Secret Life of Groceries is super interesting so far. Food politics is so fascinating to me, even if it's is depressing sometimes. Up Next   I'm buddy reading this one! I've had it on my TBR for quite awhile and excited to dive in.   What are you r

The holiday season is upon Calla and Jonah, and with the mistletoe and gingerbread comes plenty of family drama. Jonah is bracing himself for two weeks with a stepfather he loathes, and while Calla is looking forward to her mother and Simon’s arrival, she dreads the continued pressure to set a date for their wedding … in Toronto.
