 Today's topic:

October 13th: Comfort foods and comfort reads: now that the weather is getting cooler, share some of yours.

This is a great topic for today because as I'm writing this, it's windy and rainy outside! Fall is definitely here!

Favorite comfort foods:

1.  Lasagna! Whenever it gets stormy out I always want to make lasagna. I have a great recipe from my mom in law that my husband loves. It's super basic but super delicious.

2. Chili! I made a pot of chili last Saturday and it was delicious. I love that there are so many variations--meat or no meat, what veggies you add in, etc. Plus, it's super easy to just put it in the crock pot and leave it.

3. Homemade mac and cheese! Listen, dairy and I aren't great friends, but if you put delicious homemade mac and cheese in front of me...so hard to resist.

As for comfort reads--I'm such a mood reader so I'm not sure on this one.  Probably an author I've read before so I know what to expect? For example, I just got the latest from Elin Hilderbrand in my Book of the Month box (Troubles in Paradise) and I'm so looking forward to it because I love her books and the Paradise series. So that will definitely be a comfort read for me. I think it just depends on you as a reader and what you love.

What are your go-to comfort foods and comfort reads?

Happy Reading!

  1. OMG - it's like we just just plunged into the cold. rainy winter this weekend lol I'm not ready.

But I DO love comfort food and that's what I had all weekend. I might even get wild and start the fireplace today :-)

Comfort reads are harder for me too - I read whatever.

  2. I LOVE all three of these too! I'd say my go to comfort food is pizza. My drink is Mountain Dew. My favorite comfort reads are either chick lit or a good psychological thriller. :)

  3. Yea!! So glad to find you - thanks for joining in the TMST fun! I do love a good chili, but no one else in my family likes it, so I never make it. I also love a good sloppy joe - but same thing, they won't eat it. Oh well.
