The Four Winds By Kristin Hannah  464 pages, publication date February 2, 2021 St. Martin's Press Note: I received this book directly from the publisher via Net Galley to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own and I received no other compensation. From Goodreads: Texas, 1934. Millions are out of work and a drought has broken the Great Plains. Farmers are fighting to keep their land and their livelihoods as the crops are failing, the water is drying up, and dust threatens to bury them all. One of the darkest periods of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl era, has arrived with a vengeance. In this uncertain and dangerous time, Elsa Martinelli—like so many of her neighbors—must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or go west, to California, in search of a better life. The Four Winds is an indelible portrait of America and the American Dream, as seen through the eyes of one indomitable wo

Bout of Books 30 Wrap-up

It's Monday again! Bout of Books 30 is now officially in the books (I couldn't resist) and what a week it was. It was definitely hard to focus on reading and I was much more successful with audiobooks than anything else. I didn't engage with others as much on Twitter or Instagram as I'd planned, but that's okay.  I did participate in the Monday twitter chat, and I did manage to finish TWO books! Long Bright River was just an OK read for me--three stars. I absolutely LOVED The House in the Cerulean Sea! Fantasy is not my typical genre, so it did take me a bit to get into it, but then...I fell in love with it. It was the perfect read for this week. ALL the stars for this one!    Bout of Books 31 is May 10-16th--I  look forward to participating! Happy Reading, friends! Hope you're doing well.

In the past I've set page goals, book goals, and other types of goals. In the more recent Bout of Books, I've set super relaxed goals-- finish one book, have fun, and connect with others ! These are definitely still my goals for Bout of Books 30. The main goal of Bout of Books is to read an have fun, so I don't want to stress myself out by counting pages. But--if that's what makes YOU happy and have fun, go for it! It's just not what works for me. So as far as stats go, I will only be reporting number of books read.   Also, the Bout of Books team named me a  Bout of Books Expert , which basically means I've participated in A LOT of these great readathons! Feel free to ask questions or connect! The Books   Both of these books were book
