March 2021 Reading Wrap Up

Image
March was a great reading month for me! I didn't realize I'd made it through ten books until I started counting them all up. I took a week off of work in the middle of March, so that gave me a lot of extra reading time.  I can't decide which of my two five star reads are my favorite for this month--but if I'd have to pick just one....probably The Rose Code.  Five Star Reads: * The Rose Code by Kate Quinn :What a fantastic historical fiction read! Kate Quinn is absolutely an auto-read author for me.  If you love historical fiction, her books are absolute must reads.  * Infinite Country by Patricia Engel : WOW! This book blew me away.  I think this should be required reading in 2021.  The content is so important. At just under 200 pages, it's a short time investment, but so impactful.  Four Star Reads: * Homeland Elegies by Ayad Akhtar : I read this one for a book club and I was so glad I had the opportunity to discuss it with others. It has so much depth and give

WWW Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Sam over at Taking On A World of Words .   The three W's are:  What did you just finish reading? What are you currently reading?  What do you think you'll read next?   I haven't been posting as much lately--life has just been crazy! I finally got a break last week--I took all last week off of work. I did not sit in front of a computer for the entirety   of my time off and it was much needed! I didn't go anywhere (thanks covid) but enjoyed some relaxing time at home reading, relaxing, watching TV, and doing yoga. It was super chill and just what I needed!  This post will cover what I've been up to, reading wise! Recently Finished   I really enjoyed the majority of these reads--especially The Rose Code, Fly Away, and  Summertime Guests.  If you love historical fiction, The Rose Code is a must read. Fly Away (the sequel to Firefly Lane) was fantastic. I noticed on goodreads that it gets a lot of criticism for being too

What are you currently reading?  What do you think you'll read next?  Recently Finished   While I'm a big J.T. Ellison fan, this one was a little too bloody and murder-y for me. BUT, I'm over sensitive to that. It was a great thriller otherwise! Currently Reading  Fly Away is the second in the Firefly Lane series, so I've been excited to read that one. I'm buddy reading it with my friend Kristin! I'm also buddy reading The Sanatorium with my sis because she and I real all the Reese's Book Club picks. It's labeled as Gothic thriller so I'm worried it might get a little icky for me. If you're read it, what did you think? I'm listening to the audio version of The Heart's Invisible Furies and really enjoying it so far! Up Next       Excited for this one! What are you reading this week? Happy Rea

Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. You can find out more and sign up to receive emails about future TMST post topics on Jen's blog, That's What I'm Talking About . While you're there, follow her blog, because it's awesome!  Today's topic: Social Media: Love them or hate them? In general, I think the idea behind social media is great. I love that it allows you to easily connect with others who live far away, and to share updates and pictures with family and friends. I absolutely do not love the drama that it can cause, particularly on Facebook. People can get pretty nasty from behind their keyboards. Instagram is definitely my favorite platform. I love photos, and the bookstagram community is fantastic. I've met so many awesome humans through bookstagram from all over the
